Press Forward North Carolina
The North Carolina Local News Lab Fund is the home of Press Forward North Carolina: a local affiliate of the national initiative to infuse more than $500 million into local news over the course of five years. With co-chairs Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust and Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation, the Fund deepens ongoing partnerships with regional and national funders while continuing to advance the vision of informed, connected, and thriving communities across North Carolina. In practice, this includes advising fellow funders on how to make impactful investments in news and information, sharing best practices and lessons learned about ecosystem funding, and convening funders for discussions about the greatest needs and opportunities we’re seeing in the ecosystem – and how to address them.
The Fund is also the home of Press Forward Charlotte, a local chapter of Press Forward North Carolina. This initiative fuels hyperlocal investments in news and information through funder partnerships in the Charlotte area, where there is a growing community of funders committed to supporting local news and information.
